IHLA MEMBERSHIP
WHY BECOME A MEMBER OF
ihla?
Becoming a member
of IHLA provides you with several
benefits, for your school and the teachers in your school.

you may qualify
for a University of Alberta scholarship to upgrade your teaching careers
and/or benefit from sponsoring of teacher professional development
training throughout the province

you will receive
the IHLA Newsletter in printed format, distributed tow/three times per year with news and
information about our activities and initiatives

you will access
to IHLA teachers' training, specific for teachers of heritage language
schools
-
you will
have access to funds and a wide range of educational and organization
support and advice from our office

you will have
access to the Canadian Languages Network (CLN), an Internet-based
information retrieval service
Teachers of our
association contribute to the cultural and language growth of the many
languages spoken in Alberta.
TYPES OF
MEMBERSHIP
IHLA has
two types of annual membership available:

Individual
Membership : $10.00/year
-
School
membership: $ 25.00/year up to 5
teachers. Each additional teacher in the school is $5.00/year
MEMBERSHIP FORM IHLA's primary
objectives include:

supporting and
promoting heritage language education
-
assisting in the
development of heritage language curriculum, teaching resources and
materials
-
supporting
heritage language teacher training and skill development
IHLA supports the
view that international language education increases the level and respect
and appreciation for multiculturalism and the diversity of Canada's
peoples.
