Slovak Heritage School in Edmonton

The Slovak Heritage School in Edmonton offers an accredited program of Slovak language from Kindergarten to Grade 12 (for high school credits) as well as the classes for adults. Our classes will run on Saturday mornings starting in September 2017 in Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Slovak Heritage School  (campus Edmonton) closely cooperates with Slovak School – Slovenska skola in Calgary (campus Calgary) Both schools are roofed by the non-profit organization Slovak School – Slovenska Skola Foundation.

The primary goal of  Slovak Heritage School in Edmonton is to preserve Slovak language and culture and hence preserve multiculturalism of Alberta province. Our students will have an opportunity to embrace Slovak language via project based learning. While working on assigned projects, students will build their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and learn about culture and history of Slovakia and Central European milieu.  This approach fosters language skills and diversity awareness by encouraging students to problem solve and collaborate on learning objectives.  Our curriculum will develop the critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity skills necessary for the success of our students.
